Pinoypoets: About Us
It was June 2004 when a community of literary enthusiasts brought together by poetry was formed. The group, since then called Pinoypoets, traces its roots to its local poetry mailing list, which has been home to Pinoypoets’ correspondences since. The group has then grown beyond the mailing list and has developed to a more formal organization. Pinoypoets is now a non-stock, non-profit corporation duly registered with the SEC.
Pinoypoets hopes to provide a creative forum for poets and poetry enthusiasts. The group holds regular monthly critique sessions where members may present their poems for constructive critique. The regular monthly meetings also allow members to discuss and study the works of other poets and the vast literature on poetry. The group also organizes workshops and special lectures, which are always open to anyone interested, members and non-members alike.
In its efforts to promote poetry and literature, Pinoypoets has partnered with several organizations such as Filipinas Heritage Library, Ortigas Foundation, Art Informal, and Pinto Art Gallery. It has also enlisted the help of established poets such as Michael Coroza, D.M. Reyes, Conchitina Cruz, Kris Lacaba, Edgar Samar, Romulo Baquiran Jr, and Paolo Manalo in such efforts.
